Welcome to the World, Baby Monroe!

Today, I got to visit Baby Monroe for the first time. Monroe Bardin Thrower IV was born last Thursday, January 28th, at 12:51 p.m., weighing in at 7 lbs. and 2 oz. and measuring 20 inches long. He was born exactly on his due date, despite Mrs. Lisa's predictions otherwise. Mom and Dad got to see him in the hospital, - Dad went to the hospital on the day that he was born, and Mom headed down just in time for him to go home on Saturday - but I wasn't allowed to see him in the hospital because I am too young. Oh, grown ups and their rules - Yuck! Baby Monroe is so adorable and handsome! He's got a perfect little mouth and the longest little toes and fingers. I am a little upset because he already has more hair than me, but I guess that's not his fault, so I'll let it slide. He is also so tiny; Mom said that I was never quite that little. Baby Monroe was so very tired while we were visiting, which I totally understand considering all that he has gone through over the last six days; therefore, he slept most of the time. I remember those days, and I think Mom misses them sometimes. I wasn't overly interested in Little Monroe, which will definitely change when he gets big enough to play. I didn't even care when Mom held him; however, I did not like it when he cried, which only happened for a brief moment while he was being swaddled. His crying made me cry; I don't like it when he is sad. I also didn't like it when Mrs. Lisa put him in his bassinet; I wanted him where I could keep an eye on him. Mrs. Lisa looks great, and she is such a natural Mommy; I can tell that Baby Monroe is very lucky. I can't wait until he is a little older and I can share all of my knowledge with him. I'll help him navigate through this crazy thing called life; I may boss him around a little and stir up trouble with him, but that's my job as the older, wiser friend. While I was visiting Mrs. Lisa, I got to meet Baby Monroe's Grandma, Lisa's Mom. She was really sweet; she showed me around the house and made sure that I didn't get into too much trouble while Mom tried to visit with Mrs. Lisa and the baby. I had a great time sitting in PGo's bed and playing with him; he's a big brother now, so I figured he needed a little special attention. I also did a little dancing in the kitchen, tried to drink out of Mrs. Lisa's hospital cup, laid on Baby Monroe's bird beanbag, pushed Mrs. Lisa's exercise ball around the house, and looked out of all of their windows. It was a good time had by all! I was excited to see that Baby Monroe is using my old bassinet; oh, it brings up so many old memories; I hope you enjoy it as much as I did, Baby Monroe. I cannot wait to see you again! You truly are adorable. Congratulations, Mrs. Lisa and Mr. Monroe! We love you guys, and we feel so lucky to be sharing in this exciting time. (We've come a long way since Ireland!)

After getting out of Mrs. Lisa's hair, we headed out to lunch with Aunt Stephanie. It was already 30 minutes past my normal nap time, and I was a bit exhausted by that point, but seeing Aunt Stephanie immediately revitalized me. I made Aunt Steph cheers me with her cup several times, and then I dipped every piece of food in ketchup, fruit and croutons included: Ketchup makes everything better. It was quite a delightful lunch; although, the food did take forever. and the chips were stale. Hanging out with Aunt Stephanie is worth stale chips any day. After dropping off Aunt Steph, it only took me a few minutes to pass out in the car, which I rarely do. I'm so glad that we got to do lunch, Aunt Steph!

My playgroup is taking a few weeks off due to icky germs; it seems that everyone is sick right now, so I've had to keep myself entertained. Last Thursday, Mom and I went over to Grandma's house for dinner. Aunt Stephanie, Aunt Mallory, and Mrs. Sharon were all there as well. I love it when the Aunts chase me around the island in the kitchen; they are hilarious. I refused to leave Aunt Mallory alone when she first got home from work; don't you know that your second job is to chase me and try to scare me, Aunt Mallory!? I kept trying to kiss Baxter, but then he knocked me over and got banished to the bedroom. Grandma and I danced for a bit, and then I just hung out with the ladies, tried on scarves, and played peek-a-boo with Grandma over the back of the couch. I even got to take pictures with Mom's camera, like this incredibly artistic photograph of Aunt Mallory that I pretty much took by myself. Perhaps, I am the next Ansel Adams. Mrs. Sharon, who is always so good to me, brought me a stuffed gingerbread man who actually smells like ginger; thank you, Mrs. Sharon. However, I was none to pleased when I found out that Mom had forgotten to bring Pooh; I sadly called Pooh's name, and I wasn't even appeased when Mom pulled out Duck. Pooh's my best friend; he needs to go everywhere with me. I still managed to have a wonderful time with the fam; they are nothing if not entertaining.

I got to see Grandma again on Saturday when she watched me so that Mom could go down and visit Baby Monroe in the hospital. Great Aunt Marsha, Haley, and Cameron came over to Grandma's, and I had a ball with all of them! Cameron chased me around, and I got to tickle him on the ground with Great Aunt Marsha. I love to make him laugh; he is so much fun! Haley is a little more shy around me, but that is okay; I can be quite intimidating. Great Aunt Marsha was excited to see that most of the toys I had brought with me were toys that she had given me; you are definitely a good toy-picker-outer, Aunt Marsha. Grandma let me stay up way past nap time, and I enjoyed every minute of it, but by about 2:30, I was ready for her to pick me up so that I could relax. Grandma just got a new camera for Christmas, and this was the first time that she had used it, so the pictures are a little fuzzy but still very cute, in my humble photographer's opinion. Thank you, Grandma, for everything! The only downfall to the day is that I forgot Pooh at Grandma's house, which made Sunday morning a little tough. Mom had to meet Grandma halfway to have a Pooh-handover on Sunday afternoon. That Pooh, he never seems to be in the right place at the right time.

I've been keeping busy around the house as well. I've recently discovered my belly button, as well as Dad and Mom's belly buttons. I love to stick my finger in one of their belly buttons and laugh hysterically; Mom especially likes it when I randomly lift her shirt in public to see her belly button. It is just too ingenious that people come with their own buttons, seeing as I have a new found fascination with all buttons in general. I have also recently discovered the joys of being naked. As soon as the diaper comes off, I am attempting to escape so as to do laps around my room or the coffee table. I feel so free! Now that it is February, Mom and Dad's bet about which Christmas toy would become my favorite is over, and Dad won; I love my Pooh plane the best. Thanks, Santa. Opie is a constant source of entertainment at home, of course. I can do almost anything to Opie, and he just puts up with it. I make him wear things on his head; I brush him with any object on which I can get my hands; I 'dry' him off even when he is already dry; I chase him with his toys, and I even squirt hand sanitizer on his back when he isn't looking - oh, good times! Mom's shoes also provide a good deal of entertainment; I'll have the high-heel-wearing down in no time. Then to top off all of the fun I'm creating for myself, it's red carpet season. This past Sunday was the Grammy Awards, and we had our 3D glasses ready for the tribute to Michael Jackson; although, I didn't even get to stay up to see any of it. Mom is way more excited about this stuff than I am anyways. There truly is "no place like home"!

I continue to learn something new every day. I'm getting pretty good at washing myself in the bath, and I've added arm, leg, foot, and hand to my growing repertoire of known body parts. The words keep coming as well; who knows what I'll say next! I continue to help Mom around the house. My new favorite chore is helping Mom prepare dinner; I love to shake the veggies before we steam them. I've also mastered the brow furrow, and I give the nastiest look whenever I am told not to do something or don't get my way - the look is usually directed at Mom. I'll just give you a small taste of the brow furrow; they get much nastier than what you see here. I currently like to put my fingers in my ears and make noise when Mom talks to me as well, which started out as a funny bath game; I'm not sure where I learned this one, but it comes in handy. Watch out, the terrible twos seem to have already begun, or maybe, that's just my personality. You decide.

Well, that's all for now! I need to start getting ready for some Super Bowl commercial watching. I'll be in charge of the remote.

(Side Note: This blog was supposed to include a few very cute videos; however, I just found out that videos from the regular camcorder will not upload due to file size; sorry, folks!)
